Every site sits inside a larger conversation of movement, climate, ownership, and use. Our urban design services span the full ladder of scales — from a regional master plan to the width of a footpath — so the framework you commission holds together from the aerial view down to the walking eye.

Master Planning

Our master planning services set the strategic frame for large sites — land use, density, block structure, phasing, and infrastructure alignment. We plan townships, resorts, and mixed-use precincts as long-life places, tuned to the site's climate, ground, and market, with staging that lets early phases stand on their own while the whole grows.

Precinct & Campus Planning

Campuses, hospitals, and institutional precincts have their own working day, movement patterns, and identity. We design the block layout, courtyards, arrival sequences, and shared spaces so buildings connect logically, service routes stay out of the way, and the campus reads as one considered environment rather than a cluster of separate briefs.

Urban Design Frameworks & Guidelines

On sites that will be built by many hands over many years, the framework is what keeps them coherent. We write urban design guidelines — heights, setbacks, frontages, materials, plot rules — that give future architects room to design well while protecting the qualities the plan promised on day one.

Public Realm & Streetscape

Streets, squares, and edges are where a place is actually experienced. We design the public realm — carriageway sections, footpaths, planting, lighting, edges, and pause points — so movement is safe and calm, shade and shelter are present, and the street contributes to the life of every plot it passes.

Neighbourhood & Township Planning

Residential neighbourhoods and townships need more than a good plot layout. We plan schools, retail, parks, walking routes, and civic anchors together with the housing so daily life works without a car for most trips. Densities are staged, streets are hierarchical, and open space is planned as a network rather than a leftover.

Feasibility & Urban Regeneration

Before the plan comes the question of whether the plan makes sense. We run feasibility, capacity, and site-fit studies for greenfield and infill sites, and we take on urban regeneration briefs where existing fabric is being reworked. The output is a clear, testable framework a client can back with confidence and consent authorities can read cleanly.

How We Work

Our Urban Design Process, from Site Walk to Delivery Oversight

Urban projects live longer than any drawing set and pass through many hands, so the process has to be as considered as the plan itself. Ours moves from grounded discovery to a robust framework, then into design and delivery — with regular checkpoints so the plan matures rather than drifts.

Discovery

We start with the site, the brief, and the players. That means walking the ground, reading the surveys, meeting the client team, and understanding the constraints and ambitions honestly before any lines are drawn.

Analysis & Framework

We test the site against climate, access, topography, existing fabric, and demand. From that analysis we shape an urban design framework — land use, densities, block structure, and open space — and pressure-test it before it hardens.

Design & Engagement

The framework grows into a detailed plan with plot layouts, streetscape sections, guidelines, and visualisations. We keep the client, consultants, and where relevant the public in the loop, so the design absorbs real input rather than surprising anyone late.

Delivery & Oversight

We stay on through approvals, phasing, and building-level design review, checking that later architects and contractors hold to the framework's intent. Good urban design only works if someone protects it after the pitch deck is closed.

Feel and Bari runs urban design and master planning assignments from our studio at 105 Harrington Road, Chetpet, Chennai and from our Florida office in West Palm Beach. From those two bases we have taken on projects across India, the USA and China, so the practice is used to working across time zones, regulatory contexts, and climatic conditions — and to travelling to site when a plan needs eyes on the ground rather than another video call.
